A Fransiscan Blessing

Thursday and Friday I attended the Leadership Summit that is put on by the Willow Creek Association. There are several highlights that I may blog about in the near future, but the following quote is the one that stands out the most at the moment.

Craig Groeschel from Lifechurch.tv was probably the most applicable and challenging speaker. He ended his talk with this prayer for all of us. Today, Jeff ended our worship gathering with the same thing. This is something that I would like to pray on a regular basis.

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done. Amen.
A Fransciscan Blessing.

Very cool. I am just now getting around to catching up on your blog. I always like to see if I can make the blog after we have a visit. Tell everyone (mostly The Smiths and the Smiths) that I am sorry I did not get to visit with them :( Next time I am in Raleigh. Also tell Patrick now that I am a hair dye expert he can be next. Next time I'm in town we can make his hair match yours.

I thought that you might appreciate this...I collected posts from all the live blogging at the Leadership Summit 08. There are some really great insights there.
